While working with Health Care for the Homeless on our Diabetes 2 Initiative, Hope Returned Director Jeanne Kennedy, CPA, VP and Treasurer, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, learned of an urgent need in the Baltimore area that helps access housing which saves lives and creates opportunity. HCH was granted funds to support the move of approximately 100 of their clients into permanent housing. However, for many, the success of housing comes with a completely barren apartment, equipped without even modest supplies to sleep, clean, or even use the bathroom. This overwhelming experience can make the fragile transition to permanent housing a hurdle that many cannot overcome.
Hope Returned, Inc. raised funds for 60 Housing Starter Kits to help these homeless persons transition into their new homes. These Housing Starter Kits included modest items, such as cleaning supplies, toiletries, kitchen utensils, inflatable mattresses and a pillow. Thanks to the work of Hope Director Jeanne Kennedy, Hope VP Laura Scott, and Hope Social Media Director Amanda Robbins, Hope Returned, Inc. raised $9000 to help vulnerable people put the traumatic experience of homelessness and shelter life behind.
Thank you to the Hope supporters who made this possible!
